Rafaela Lopez

Rafaela Lopez (b. 1988) is an artist based in New York and Paris. Her work proposes projects which, through collaboration, video, performance, sculpture, drawing, question the social potentials of art.
Rafaela Lopez obtained an MA from the Sculpture department of Royal College of Art (London, 2015) as well as from Villa Arson (Nice, 2013) and a BA from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris (ENSAD, 2009). In 2015, she was awarded at Art-O-Rama artfair (Marseille) and had a first solo show at Galerie de Multiples in Paris in 2018 followed by a duo show with Rebecca Bruno at FLAX (Los Angeles).
She has exhibited in various venues such as Fondation Louis Vuitton (2018), FLAX Foundation (Los Angeles, 2018), Palais de Tokyo (Paris, 2017), Centre National d’Art Contemporain de la Villa Arson (Nice, 2012, 2014, 2017), Studio Voltaire (London, 2015), Camden Art Centre (London, 2015), Flat Time House (London, 2014, 2015), Centquatre (Paris, 2010). Rafaela Lopez is the former president of DOC, an independent art space and squat located in the 19th arrondissement in Paris. She is currently co-running Suite 101, a non profit project space in Brooklyn, NY.
