Pierre-Marie Drapeau-Martin

After years training in operatic singing, forming the core of his childhood and teenage years, also characterized by a nomadic spirit, Pierre-Marie started to use cameras as a guide and travel companion.
In 2007, he traveled to the US where everything appeared to have a cinematographic quality, and started to take photographs to accompany his writings. Photography then became his preferred medium.
In 2015, he graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie in Arles. Since then, his videos have been projected for shows organized by the Cinéma du Solstice in the Glassbox gallery as well as at the Fermanville beach, with the support of Frac Normandie. He has also exhibited his photography in collective shows at the Agnès B. gallery, at the FRAC PACA, in the U.S. at the Washer Dryer Project gallery, as well as at the gallery of Jeune Création. In 2018, he exhibited his works at the Palais des Beaux-Arts of Paris for the 68th edition of Jeune Création, where he was awarded the No Mad Galerie prize, and the Aponia prize. This prize gave him the opportunity to put on his first solo show 'Still life / Life style' at the Aponia contemporary arts center.
Following this personal exhibition, in 2020 he will participate in five group exhibitions, which put his work into perspective with others in contexts and which question the ethical and political dimensions of art (Love and violence, takes care of you # 1, # 2, # 3, Tranchante, L'aurore!). The same year, he carried out a residency at the artist run space in.plano where he began to develop new, more autobiographical works where the image became a material of work in volumes. A restitution of residence is planned in 2021 at in.plano during a personal exhibition called Primary.
